Jeremiah Backhaus #4 on the 2020 Covered Bridge Art Studio Tour stop Oct. 9-11th

Jeremiah Backhaus is a blacksmith. He utilizes old tools, hot fires and split second decisions to make pieces for the home, the shop, and even the campsite! The process is the same as the ancient masters, but the application is as modern as imagination.

The tour artists met last night in the rain to pick up their tour flags, road signs and arrows.  In spite of the rain, we were all smiling behind our masks and sharing tips on how to make this year's tour safe, fun and as friendly as it always has been.   We were all hoping that the weather for tour week-end is NOT what is was last night!!  We invite you all to visit our website and view the short artists' videos to get a snapshot of what is store for you during the tour.  We hope it will help you plan your tour.  Click on this link and then scroll to the Art Studio Tour and click again.     http://www.cedarburgartistsguild.com

The artists on the Covered Bridge Art Studio Tour this year will be making every effort to stay socially distanced and safe.  With that in mind, depending on mother nature, some are planning on doing outside demos, those in barns and garages will have their doors open.  In Mequon, watercolor artist, Alice Struck ( #20) is planning on moving her easel outside on Saturday at 2:00 ( Sunday same time rain date),  plein air oil painters, Lynn Rix( #18 ) and Pam Ruschman ( # 19) both will have an on-going demos set up outside of their studios for the entire tour. In Cedarburg, artists Susan Hale ( #9) and Joan Hollnagel ( # 11) will have art displayed outside and at the Fermentorium location, plein air artist, Michelle Savas ( #14) plans on setting up outside on Saturday from 12 - 2 pm.   In Grafton, Al Buss ( #4 ) will have a tent set up to display his sculpture and in his yard, blacksmith Jeremiah Backhaus ( #4) will be working over a fire the entire tour.  Also in Grafton, Kandy Gibson (# 6) will be creating raku pottery over a fire in her back yard all three days.
