Joseph Mendla is a sculptor who delights in drawing in the
air with lines of steel. For the last
few years he has been creating a series of centering sculptures designed to
bring calm to the mind of their viewer.
These steel sculptures are based on the Asian practice of drawing
circles on rice paper with brushes loaded with black ink. They are all titled “Zen Brushwork” and
engraved with a number denoting their place in the series.
