Alex Hanyard #31 on the 2019 Covered Bridge Art Studio Tour stop Oct. 11-13th

It all started in a kitchen in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  With a passion for candles and a yearning to help the environment, Oscar Alley MKE was born. Our candles are made from 100% soy, contain cotton wicks and are hand poured in small batches. Each candle has been poured into an up-cycled hand cut wine or beer bottle.  Help save the environment one scent at a time!

Her self published book “A is for Amaryllis” incorporating the alphabet using the illuminated letter and teamed with flowers and their meanings is a labor of love.

Tom Kubala #21 on the 2019 Covered Bridge Art Studio Tour stop Oct. 11-13th

Like most of us, Tom began painting soon after learning to walk.Unlike many,
drawing and painting has been his constant companion ever since. Currently,
Tom paints weekly with a group of friends known only to themselves as the
Dumpster School. His subjects range from local architecture and landscapes to
still life objects. Watercolor has been Tom’s media of choice primarily because of
it’s simplicity and portability, painting outside is a particular pleasure for him.

Watercolor is a fascinating medium, it has a mind of its own. Tom finds a major
task in painting is getting out of the way, both spiritually and physically.
Spiritually, to see the painting as it unfolds - without the filter of a concept or
abstract notion. Physically, so as not to interfere with the paint’s own mixing -
directly on the paper. Tom believes that a painting is a painting, that it must
stand on it’s own as a collection of colored blotches on white paper, a collection
that has the ability, if organized properly, to bring life to the world where none
existed before. Subject matter is only a starting point for his paintings, an
organizing framework for color and value.

Diane Boer-Henke #14 on the 2019 Covered Bridge Art Studio Tour stop Oct. 11-13th

I have been working with clay on and off for 35 years…
I am inspired by life and the faces of people I have met. Faces are like a map that can illustrate our experiences and emotion. I am wonderfully intrigued by the lines etched by time on each of us dwelling on this earth.
I welcome you to visit my studio and see what emerges from the clay….
