Carrie Bury #16 on the 2019 Covered Bridge Art Studio Tour stop Oct. 11-13th

Carrie Bury started painting on canvases in 1988 for a creative outlet. In recent decades Carrie‘s practice has centered on taking colors at their peak saturation and playing with different ways to apply them to the canvases in acrylics to create loud and stimulating compositions. In the past year Carrie joined the Cedarburg Artist Guild and since then has been exploring plein air and observational painting to diversify her practice.  Carrie lives and creates in Cedarburg, Wisconsin and enjoys Cedarburg’s creative culture and welcomes the opportunity to learn from her peers.

Megan Johnson #1 on the 2019 Covered Bridge Art Studio Tour stop Oct. 11-13th

Megan Woodard Johnson

Johnson’s abstract mixed media process combines collected materials like vintage school books, ledgers, and hand-written correspondence with expressive layers of paint and drawn marks. This juxtaposition of vintage materials with intuitive abstract mark making creates contemporary paintings that celebrate the energy of the present as well as the nostalgia of the past.
