Barbara's objective is the creation of functional stoneware on the potter’s wheel out of love for the circular form. In addition, she does hand-building of clay to round out her stoneware offerings. Bridget DeLoge is an artist born and raised in Michigan. She holds Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Eastern Michigan University, with a concentration in watercolor. Although painting was the main focus in college, she now creates art in stained glass. She likes to create anything that comes to mind, letting the glass speak to her, as she works with the many colors and types of glass. She likes to incorporate wood and found objects into her designs, and create stained glass portraits of family pets.

Kandy Gibson is a utilitarian potter who creates pots that are visually pleasing and unique in character, but also useful in everyday life.  Each piece of stoneware pottery created reflects her enjoyment for throwing, carving, sketching, embellishing, creating and using. Most of her pieces are wheel thrown, but some are hand built.  The forms are usually organic in nature, which stems from her love of the balance observed in nature.

Kathleen Donovan Flaherty #27 on the 2019 Covered Bridge Art Studio Tour stop Oct. 11-13th


    In 2000, Kathleen had her first experience painting with other Plein Air Painters in Cedarburg Artists’ Plein Air Event and was “hooked”.  Watercolor was her choice of medium but some years later switched to oil. She sought out guidance in learning how to apply the medium by enrolling in workshops given by Shelby Keefe, Tom Nachreiner, Kathie Wheeler, Frankie Johnson and others.  Kathleen is a member and past president of the League of Milwaukee Artists (LMA) and on the Board of Cedarburg Artists Guild, chairing their Holiday Art Fair.

Mary Mendla is a painter, fiber artist, apparel designer and art instructor.  Her paintings are done in Oil, Cold Wax and Mixed Media.  Her imagery refers primarily to the natural world and is represented by abstract tonalist compositions.  In addition to her painting and fiber art, Mary produces a line of women’s wearable art apparel and offers classes and workshops in her Thiensville studio and throughout the Mid-West.

Joseph Mendla #28 on the 2019 Covered Bridge Art Studio Tour stop Oct. 11-13th


Joseph Mendla is a sculptor who delights in drawing in the air with lines of steel.  For the last few years he has been creating a series of centering sculptures designed to bring calm to the mind of their viewer.  These steel sculptures are based on the Asian practice of drawing circles on rice paper with brushes loaded with black ink.  They are all titled “Zen Brushwork” and engraved with a number denoting their place in the series.
